PRESS RELEASE
Patti has recently announced plans to leave the Bluegrass Gospel Project
at the end of 2007 and to return to a solo career and other musical
pursuits. As a founding member and signature lead singer for the BGP, one
of New England's premier acoustic bands, Patti says, "It's been a terrific
6 years with the BGP and I'm proud of what we've accomplished, but it's
time to move ahead with my own music and explore some other territory. I'm
putting together a band in which I can better showcase my own material –
I've got loads of new stuff – while still singing lots of the classic
Americana stuff I love, you know, the close harmonies and gorgeous
instrumental stuff. And the timing seems right to move on," says Patti,
citing the band's resignation of longtime manager and booking agent, Peter
Nielsen of Old Meeting House Arts, who was responsible for creating many
of the band's successful relationships with beneficiaries such as the
Vermont Food Bank and other organizations around New England.
Patti plans to release a new album of original material in 2008, and has
been working with Burlington's Vermont Stage Company (www.vtstage.org),
having served as musical director and performer in last year's smash hit
"Woody Guthrie's American Song" and this year's "Winter Tales."
Patti
performs at the 2007 Telluride Bluegrass Festival in Telluride CO.
After serving as Musical Director and actor in Vermont Stage Company's
2007 sellout production of Woody Guthrie's American Song, Patti has been
invited back by VT Stage Company to provide music for their 2007
production of Winter Tales in December.

is proud to present
Woody Guthrie's American Song
Songs and Writings by Woody Guthrie
Conceived and Adapted by Peter Glazer
Directed by VSC Artistic Director Mark Nash
Vermont Stage Company is proud to present a rabble-rousing musical event,
Woody Guthrie's American Song, opening January 24th! An exuberant musical
celebration of America, Woody Guthrie's American Song tells the life of
the rambling folk singer through his words and music. Songwriter,
musician, storyteller, activist and all-around rabble rouser, Woody became
a folk hero by speaking truth to power and uncovering injustice wherever
he found it. As relevant today as when they were written, his songs remind
us of the hope and promise of this land that was "made for you and me".
Woody Guthrie's American Song proudly features local artists Patti Casey
(Bluegrass Gospel Project), Brett Hughes (Chrome Cowboys), Ellen McQueeney
(Quilters), Chuck Meese, Evan Beamer and with musicians Tyler Bolles and
Joe Cleary.
