So when the Woods Tea Co tour ended near Los Angeles this past October, our van and trailer needed to be driven back across country. Wicked! Will and Liam flew out and met us, and the three of us headed back East. Joshua Tree National Park, the Grand Canyon, the Painted Desert… and I’ve no doubt that my son will remember pretty much only the hotel pools, strung together in a beautiful, shimmering necklace of chlorine and cannonballs. In an effort to see everything this great nation of ours has to offer, we did go slightly out of our way to visit that other famous national treasure, Middle Finger Rock (see below).

While en route home, I began writing some material for Woods Tea. I crafted a ditty entitled “Green Solstice,” which I invite you to check out (it’s available on our new holiday CD — see below for info). I had an opportunity to do some writing and meet some nice folks in Arkansas while the trailer got fixed, one of whom was a very gifted gal named Mazie. Aside from her bad habit of drinking too much Dr. Pepper, Mazie was an astonishing ball player.

Upon returning home, Woods Tea Co finished up our holiday CD offering, Holiday Blend Volume 2, which is available on www.woodstea.net, together with a very fine chai tea blend from Vt Artisan Coffee & Tea. In mid-November, we hit the road again for some terrific dates in Annapolis, Leonardtown, Rehoboth Beach, Philadelphia, and Saratoga Springs.
When I returned from all of this, I undertook musical direction of Vt Stage Company’s 2009 “Winter Tales.” Pete Sutherland and I penned a few things for this wonderful show (for a sound recording of the show, visit www.vtstage.org), one of which was the unexpectedly popular, “A Dog’s Complaint,” which is a semi-dogobiographical account of one dog’s quest for a fire to lay in front of. Needless to say, we now own an Electralog, and Tilly and Cosmo are much happier hounds.
I’m thrilled to announce that “The Edge of Grace,” my 2005 release, has been accepted on Pandora. This is highly excellent! If you are not familiar with Pandora internet radio, it ROCKS! Go to www.Pandora.com and make up your own station. As of January 2010, you’ll be able to put “Patti Casey” in there and create a radio station from there. Again, wicked. While you’re waiting for Pandora to fire up, you can find all of my music on LASTFM.com
I am hoping to finish up my new recording early in 2010. Late, I know, but I’m hoping it’ll be worth the wait. I have new material and will be heading to Colin McCaffrey’s “The Green Room” for some sonic satisfaction.
Hoping all are well and happy this winter season -
Patti
